Why You Should Pray: Talking to God as a Man
“A man can carry a lot.
But he wasn’t meant to carry it alone.”
The Thing Most Men Don’t Talk About
Men will talk about training.
Money.
Work.
Stress.
Responsibility.
But many men stay silent about the one thing that can save, steady, and transform them most: God.
Some men think they need to clean themselves up first.
Some think faith is weakness.
Some are too wounded to trust again.
So they carry everything alone:
- pressure
- guilt
- anger
- shame
- addiction
- fear
- regret
And over time, the weight becomes chains.
Prayer Isn’t Weakness — It’s Surrender to Real Strength
Prayer is not a man giving up.
It is a man finally kneeling before the One greater than himself.
You train your body.
You discipline your habits.
You sharpen your mind.
But without spiritual direction, a man can still be powerful on the outside and broken within.
Prayer is where pride dies.
Where clarity returns.
Where peace enters.
Where strength is renewed.
“God doesn’t need polished words.
He wants a real heart.”
Jesus: The King Who Chose Sacrifice
At the centre of the Christian faith is this truth:
Jesus Christ did what no man could do for himself.
He lived without sin.
He carried the cross.
He was mocked, beaten, pierced, and crucified.
He took the punishment meant for us.
And He rose again in glory.
That is not weakness.
That is the highest form of strength.
He chose sacrifice so we could receive salvation.
He chose suffering so we could receive mercy.
He chose the cross so we could have eternal life.
John 15:13 (NKJV)
“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
Jesus is not merely a teacher.
He is the risen King.
And His glory is not just in heaven someday —
it is in the power He has to change a man right now.
The Breaking Season: Every Man Faces the Crossroads
Most men go through a season where they break.
A family collapse.
Loss.
Failure.
Shame.
Loneliness.
Identity crisis.
The moment when the mask no longer works.
That breaking season is dangerous — because pain always demands an answer.
And in that place, a man usually moves toward one of two doors:
Door One: God’s Presence
Healing.
Truth.
Repentance.
Strength.
Purpose.
Restoration.
Door Two: Destruction
Numbing out.
Pornography.
Drugs.
Alcohol abuse.
Promiscuity.
Bitterness.
Violence.
Self-hatred.
The enemy doesn’t always destroy men through dramatic evil.
Sometimes he just offers relief that slowly ruins them.
The Battle Many Men Hide
Many men fight secret battles.
Porn.
Drugs.
Lust.
Escapism.
Rage.
Self-loathing.
Compulsive habits.
These things promise comfort but steal strength.
They numb pain temporarily while deepening it long-term.
I know this because I’m not speaking from a distance.
I know what it is to struggle.
I know what it is to feel lost, tempted, and wounded.
This is why prayer matters.
Because some battles are not just physical or mental — they are spiritual.
My Darkest Hour: When Jesus Chose Me
In one of the darkest seasons of my life, my family was breaking down.
The future felt shattered.
My identity felt shaken.
Everything familiar felt unstable.
I could have become bitter.
I could have chosen darkness.
I could have numbed myself and disappeared.
But in that broken place, Jesus met me.
And in that moment:
He chose me.
And I chose Him.
Not perfection.
Not easy roads.
Not instant healing.
But a new path.
A path to become a warrior of light.
A man who fights for truth, family, discipline, and purpose.
That spirit is part of why WarDad exists.
Not just to build stronger bodies —
but stronger men.
What Scripture Teaches Men About Pressure
Romans 5:3–5 (NKJV)
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Pain can refine you.
Pressure can shape you.
If surrendered to God, suffering can become strength.
Matthew 7:24–25 (NKJV)
“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.”
Storms are certain.
Collapse is optional.
Build on Christ, and the storm won’t own you.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV)
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Your current pain is not the end of your story.
God still has purpose for broken seasons.

You do not need to be clean before entering His presence.
